Becky's Best Bungalow Bets for July 10, 2022: 4 New Listings + Odds & Ends

Hello BBBB Friends:

And we are back this week with more new and interesting listings. I’m featuring 4 this week. As always, keep scrolling down for price improvements, new contracts, and final sales for those homes that are Still on My List.

BTW- I hope you enjoyed the ice cream issue last week. I’m told that there was a run on the pistachio ice cream at Dolce Neve Gelato but I’ve been assured they will be making more this week! (If you missed my rundown of ice cream shops in the Heights, click HERE.

Cooks & Books- The July meeting of the Heights Association sounds delicious! David Leftwich and Phaedra Cook of Houston Food Finder & Edible Houston Magazine will share their top 10 restaurants in the Heights. There will also be a collection of culinary books for sale with the authors on hand for signing! This is happening tomorrow July 11 @ 6:30 pm at the Heights Firehouse. See you there!

Community Resource Office Opening– The Heights is getting a dedicated resources office for Harris County Precinct 1. The grand opening is July 16 at 10 am at 942 Heights Blvd. There will be refreshments, giveaways, and more. The office will be open Monday-Friday from 9 to 4 pm.

Let’s go look at houses or talk about selling yours!!!

Presented by Keller Williams Realty-Memorial

1107 Tabor: $625,000

  • Brooke Smith
  • Craftsman bungalow c. 2014 by Wiseman Builders
  • 3/2, 1588 sq ft on 5000 sq ft lot
  • Updated in 2018
  • Nice size kitchen with plenty of counter space
  • Primary bedroom with tray ceilings
  • Covered back porch, small yard with patio, and artificial turf in rear
  • Driveway access with auto-gate to 1-car detached “garport”
  • Curbed street
  • Zoned to Browning Elementary

This is a very nice recent construction bungalow. I love the transoms above the doors and the blue cabinets in the kitchen and primary bath. The curbed and guttered street is uncommon in Brooke Smith and enhances the streetscape.

4636 Oak Ridge
Presented by Keller Williams-Metropolitan

4636 Oak Ridge: $699,900

  • Norhill Historic District
  • Brick Craftsman bungalow c. 1930
  • 3/2, 1565 sq ft on 5000 sq ft lot
  • Renovated/expanded in 2019
  • Wood burning fireplace
  • Deck and side yards with artificial turf
  • Driveway access to 1-car detached garage
  • Curbed street- Corner lot
  • Zoned to Field Elementary

Great curb appeal with 2 giant live oak trees. Field Elementary is 3 blocks away.

Presented by Nan & Company Properties

1202 Archer: $1,170,000

  • Brooke Smith
  • Modern farmhouse c. 2015
  • 4/3, 3260 sq ft on 6500 sq ft lot
  • Architectural details include ceiling beams, brick and shiplap accent walls
  • Chef’s kitchen w/Hallman range
  • 4th bedroom or home office w/access to full bath
  • Open game room plus media room on the second floor
  • Large yard with ‘pet patches’ and the potential for lots of green space
  • Garage Apt/Treehouse (380 sq ft, efficiency, kitchenette & full bath)
  • Driveway access with auto-gate to porte-cochere & 2-car carport
  • Zoned to Browning Elementary

The “treehouse” is a 2-car carport with an apartment upstairs. The wood walls of the apartment create a mountain home/rustic feel. Note that this home is located in the 100-yr floodplain and adjacent to the floodway, however, this house was built 2 feet above the then Houston guidelines and did not flood in Harvey.

1644 Columbia
Presented by Compass Real Estate

1644 Columbia: $1,350,000

  • Covered pavilion for entertaining ❤️
  • Back and side yard are graveled, lovely green space in front

This is one of my favorite blocks in the Heights. It is a wide, tree-lined street with recent construction as well as bungalows. Heights High and Field Elementary are 2 1/2 blocks away.
