PERFECT PUMPKIN POINTERS
As we see how artfully our neighbors are arranging their pumpkins so far this Autumn, we thought we’d share a few tips on how to ensure your pumpkins stay picture-perfect from now through Thanksgiving with the right kind of care.
🎃 When picking your pumpkin, check thoroughly that it has no bruises or pinholes.
✋ Stems are not handles. They break off easily and speed the deterioration process.
🧻 Keep your pumpkins dry! Especially if they are touching. This will ensure they don’t begin to rot prematurely.
🔎 Check your pumpkins frequently, discarding any showing signs of rot since it will spread to your others easily.
🐛 If you see a pinhole in your pumpkin, that may mean burrowing critters are getting inside. Paint it shut with clear nail polish.
📦 Protect both your pumpkin and your porch with a piece of cardboard underneath. While you may enjoy seeing the pumpkin throughout the season, you certainly don’t want a stain to linger year-round.
