Hello BBBB Friends:
Happy 4th of July! BBBB is taking a break this week but I thought it would be fun to give a shout-out to our local Heights ice cream shops. The Heights is churning up new, highly creative ice cream from artisan to alcohol-infused to savory yet sweet offerings. I gave up trying to rank them, they all have unique offerings. Enjoy!
As far as real estate goes, I’ve updated our stats so be sure to keep scrolling down to see price improvements, new contracts, and final sales for those homes that are Still on My List.
Let’s go look at houses or talk about selling yours!!!

TOP 10 ICE CREAM SHOPS IN THE HOUSTON HEIGHTS!
In Alphabetical Order – All Are Worthy!
Aqua S
- 506 Yale Unit D
- Most popular flavor: Sea Salt
- Most unique flavor: Durian
- Cost per pint: $9
- Soft serve ice cream- swirl and twirl flavors
- Kids (and you) will enjoy watching the cotton candy wrap being made
- Made inhouse w/all natural ingredients
- Locally owned franchise
I’ve always wondered about Durian, the melon that is banned on public transportation in South Asia because it smells. Apparently, you either think it smells ok and tastes weirdly good, or it will be the worst thing you’ve tasted in your life. I actually liked it, my son, not so much.

Fat Cat was one of the original Heights ice cream shops to offer artisanal ice cream. The new Garden Oaks location offers more flavors as well as “boozy shakes & ice cream floats”. (Just sayin’ 😉)

- Most unique flavor: Chocolate Crunch (dairy-free oatmeal based)
- Cost per pint: $7
- Ice creams are crafted in a central location and distributed to stores

While the flavors are basic, Smoosh is about the experience. Pick your baked goody (cookie, donut, churros & waffles) and ice cream and it will be smooshed into a sandwich for easy eating.

Underground Creamery (links to Instagram)
- Various pop-up locations-sometimes in the Heights
- Most popular flavor: Apparently all of them
- Cost per pint: $12-13
- Locally owned
Underground Creamery is the brainchild of Josh Deleon who personally produces hundreds of pints of artisanal ice cream each week. Notice of when the ice cream is ready for sale can only be found on the Underground Creamery Instagram page and it’s presented as a riddle. Solve the riddle and go to https://www.hotplate.com/undergroundcreamer at the right time and you will be able to order pints for pickup. Inventory sells out in minutes so you have to play the game to score the goods. (Or, you can enter your cell phone number at this website to be notified when the product is available, but what is the fun in that?)
