Hello BBBB Friends:
For the past few weeks, the number and quality of new listings have been slim, so this week, I may have overdone it, as I have seven new listings to share with you including bungalows, and recent and new construction at a wide range of price points! As always, I have updated my secondary blog post, Still on My List, for new contracts, price changes, and final sales. To see the changes, keep scrolling down.
WHAT’S HAPPENING IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD?
One of the many things I love about the Heights is the strength of our neighborhood associations. All voluntary with minimal membership fees, these groups provide an opportunity to meet your neighbors and have a little fun, be it at monthly meetings, special events, or neighborhood service projects. Membership is not required to attend and participate. Pick one association or several and have fun! Here’s what’s on the calendar so far:
- February 28, Tuesday, 6:30 PM, Norhill Neighborhood Association Monthly Meeting- Topic: Bees! Folks from The Bee Supply will provide information and tips about bees and beekeeping. Proctor Plaza Community Center, 803 W Temple.
- March 11, Saturday, 8-10 AM, Montie Beach Civic Club- Annual Cavalcade Esplanade Cleanup; meet in the parking lot at 634 W Cavalcade.
- March 13, Monday, 6:30 PM- Houston Heights Association Monthly Meeting: Topic: Celebrate Reading & Writing. The special chair for the meeting is renowned author, Heights historian, and HHA board member, Anne Sloan, who will be joined by local mystery writer Michelle Klumb and representatives from the Houston Writer’s Guild and the Houston Heights Library. Heights Fire Station, 107 W 12th St.
- March 14, Tuesday- Woodland Heights Civic Association Bi-monthly Meeting
- March 23, Thursday, 6 PM- Houston Heights Association: Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Dinner. $40/pp. Heights Fire Station, 107 W 12th St.
- April 13, Thursday, 6 PM- Monte Beach Civic Club General Meeting; Montie Beach Community Center, 915 Northwood Street
- April 22, Saturday, 3-5 PM- Sunset Heights Civic Club: Halbert Fest! A family-friendly Woodstock-themed party with a live band, a tie-dye station, face painting, local food trucks, and more! Bring a chair and celebrate with friends and neighbors at Halbert Park, 200 E 23rd St.
- April 29, Saturday- Houston Heights Association: Pup Promenade, save the date.
And don’t forget next Saturday is the 1st Saturday Arts Market from 11-6 PM at 530 W 19th St, AND the Heights Crawfish Festival from 11-6 PM at Resurrection MCC at 2025 W 11th St.
Have a great week and,
Let’s look at houses or talk about selling yours!

If you want lock-and-leave convenience and having your primary bedroom on the 3rd floor doesn’t hurt your knees, homes in this gated community benefit from their location across from Hike and Bike Trail, Lawrence Park, and the new M-K-T development. [The term “biscuit box” stems from the resemblance to the old tall and skinny English cookie tins.]

4023 Oak Ridge: $549,000
- Norhill Historic District
- Craftsman bungalow, c. 1930

Many of these old bungalows were built with a separate entry off the front porch to facilitate a lock-off “room for rent.” This home is an example of that. (NOTE: while there is a one-car garage, it is not really accessible from the driveway unless you have a really small car and are good at backing up! 😉 )

When a listing says, ‘livable condition,’ that means fixer-upper. This is one of my favorite Heights homes. Located on a corner lot, next to Marmion Park and across the street from the iconic Truxillo home at 1801 Harvard, it comes with HAHC-approved plans for a 2840 sq ft, 4/3.5 bath home.
