It was a breakout week for new listings in the Heights! I had quite a challenge picking my favorites. I am featuring six new listings this week, but be sure to keep scrolling down for price improvements, new contracts, and final sales for those homes that are Still On My List.

DEADLINES APPROACHING FOR HOMEOWNERS

If you are currently a homeowner, two upcoming deadlines may apply to you:

April 30: Deadline to file for a homestead exemption. You only have to file once. However, it’s common for folks to forget after the stress of buying a new home. And, don’t forget to file for the “Over 65” exemption if you will reach that milestone anytime in 2022!) If you need to apply, there are a couple of ways to do it:

  • The easy way is by mobile app: search Harris County Appraisal District in either Google Play or the Apple app store
    • Very important! The address on your Driver’s License must match the property address.
  • Fillable/printable form: Application for Residence Homestead Exemption (includes the accompanying affidavit)

May 15: Deadline to file a protest of your property taxes. Have you received your annual love note from the Harris County Appraisal District? We have, and it’s a doozy! The deadline to file a protest on your property taxes is May 15th.  Remember, what you are protesting is the county’s assessment of the value of your home on January 1, 2022. Be on the lookout for an email with the date and signup info for our annual seminar on Protesting Your Property Taxes.
