Hello BBBB Friends:
Although there was an uptick in new contracts for home sales this week, there was a decrease in listing activity. Nonetheless, I came across 6 intriguing new listings that I would like to share with you today. Keep scrolling down for price changes, new contracts, and final sales for homes.
DEADLINES APPROACHING FOR HOMEOWNERS
If you are currently a homeowner, two upcoming deadlines may apply to you:
APRIL 30- Deadline to file for a homestead exemption. You only have to file once. However, it’s not unusual for folks to forget after the stress of buying a new home. And don’t forget to file for the “over 65” exemption if you will reach that milestone anytime in 2023! The easiest way to apply is by mobile app. In either Google Play or the Apple store, search “Harris County Appraisal District”. Very important: The address on your driver’s license must match the property address.
MAY 15- Deadline to file a protest of your property taxes. Tax valuations have skyrocketed this year, and you should file a protest. We will be offering our annual DIY Tax Protest Workshop via Zoom in May. Stay tuned for the date and time.
Exciting news! We’ll be hosting an in-person Tax Protest Workshop in June. To attend, make sure you file your protest and receive the evidence package prepared by HCAD (which can take 15-30 days). This hands-on workshop will help you plan your property tax protest. Space is limited, so email me to express your interest and get notified once the date and time are set.
Have a great week and,
Let’s look at houses or talk about selling yours!
